Nestled in the heart of Modica, a city often called the "split pomegranate" due to its urban layout, stands L'Orangerie, a refined Bed and Breakfast housed in a building dating back to the second half of the 1800s and owned by the same family for several generations. The B&B overlooks a lush garden with lemon trees and offers elegant rooms and spacious loft studios with flowery terraces, where you can enjoy your breakfast or in the characteristic "antique kitchen".
All of the rooms and apartments at L'Orangerie are tastefully decorated, striving for a perfect balance between functionality and history, and painted with warm colors, such as brick red, cream yellow and dark green. Some of them also feature important contemporary art graphics and "historic design" pieces to create a personalized atmosphere.
The morning you will be welcomed into the old kitchen of the house with the smells of hot croissants, slices of freshly toasted bread and, if in season, of orange juice and fresh fruit.
There is no shortage of samples of Modicana chocolate, the 'mpanatigghi, small bundles of pasta filled with meat and chocolate.
Tea, coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate are the ideal accompaniments for jams from the region or for Hyblaean honey.

The entrance, a small glass-roofed room with a neoclassical ceiling of the same date as the house, gives access, on one side to a fully equipped kitchen, and on the other to the living room. The room is comfortably furnished with wicker and cottonwood chairs, a daybed, a small table and a console that, when opened, becomes an ample dining table. A triptych by a well-known contemporary artist decorates the walls. The sleeping quarters consist of two beds under a raised platform, with wrought and sheet iron bed-heads, painted in the Sicilian style; there are two more beds on the platform. The ceiling of this room, too, is decorated by tempera painting. Outside the living room there is a small balcony, scented by the sweet aroma of wisteria.
